Break down an annual CTC into basic, HRA, deductions, and estimated monthly in-hand salary.
About this calculator
Enter an annual CTC and this splits it into Basic, HRA, and other components, then estimates income tax under the new tax regime and shows your approximate monthly take-home pay after PF and professional tax.
Frequently asked questions
Does this use the old or new tax regime?
It estimates tax under the new tax regime slabs, since that's the default regime and HRA exemption doesn't apply there - which keeps the estimate straightforward. The old regime depends on your specific deductions (80C, HRA exemption, etc.) and isn't modeled here.
Why is my actual in-hand salary different?
Actual payslips vary by company policy - bonus structuring, variable pay, exact PF wage ceilings, state-specific professional tax slabs, and other deductions all shift the number. Treat this as a close estimate, not a payslip.
What's Basic and why does it matter?
Basic pay is the base your PF contribution and gratuity are calculated from - typically 40-50% of CTC. A higher Basic means higher PF deduction but also higher retirement savings.
