How to use this tool
- 1Drag and drop an image, or click to browse and select one.
- 2Choose an output format (JPG, WebP, or PNG) and adjust the quality slider.

- 4Download the compressed result once you're happy with the size and quality.
Common use cases
Frequently asked questions
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No - compression happens entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your image is never transmitted anywhere.
Why is the quality slider disabled for PNG?
PNG is a lossless format - it doesn't have a quality setting the way JPG and WebP do. Switch to JPG or WebP if you want to trade quality for a smaller file size.
Which format gives the smallest file size?
It depends on the image, but WebP generally produces the smallest files for photos while maintaining good quality, followed by JPG. PNG is usually the largest unless the image has large flat areas of solid color.
Will compressing a transparent PNG as JPG look right?
JPG doesn't support transparency, so transparent areas are automatically filled with white before compressing. If you need to keep transparency, stick with PNG or WebP.
